MISSION STATEMENT <br />The primary mission of the Great River Regional Library is to serve the citizens of <br />the region as an information center. The Library attempts to provide materials and <br />programs that will promote an educated citizenry and enriched personal lives. <br />'T'hese materials and programs are provided to help meet the educational, <br />informational, cultural, and recreational needs of the region. <br />GOALS <br />1. To assemble, preserve and administer, in organized collections, print and <br />non-print materials to promote as enlightened citizenship and to enrich <br />personal lives. <br />2. To serve the region as a center of information. <br />3. To provide a place where anyone may encounter the original, sometimes <br />unorthodox and critical ideas so necessary in a society that. depends for its <br />survival on free competition in ideas. <br />4. To support educational, civic and cultural activities of groups and <br />organizations. <br />5. To provide opportunity and encouragement for children, teenagers, and <br />adults to educate themselves continuously. <br />6. To seek continually to identify community informational needs, to provide <br />programs of service to meet such needs, and to cooperate with other <br />organizations agencies,. and institutions which can provide programs or <br />services to meet community needs. <br />7. To provide opportunity for recreation through the use of literature, music, <br />films and other art forms. <br />8. To collect items contributing to knowledge of local history. <br />2 <br />
