Library Board Presentation Page 5
September 30, 1992
------------------
OCTOBER 5 CITY COUNCIL DISCUSSION
At this upcoming City Council meeting, it is expected that the
Library Board will make a presentation on the results of their
work for the past year and hit the highlights of the attached
report. The first key point of Library Board should be to
explain the need for additional library space. The second key
point for the Library Board should be to explain the rationale
behind the recommendation to expand on its existing site.
At this 10/5 meeting, the City Council can take any number of
actions on the report. The Council can accept the report;
accept the report with changes; delay action on the report and
ask for more information; accept the report and ask staff to do
financial work; put everything on hold; take action on certain
financial aspects of the project; or do anything in between.
The City Council may want to simply absorb the information
being presented and discuss this issue at a later date with the
Library Board.
One good thing about the proposed library project is that the
timetable is realistic and not overly ambitious whereby actual
expenditures fora building expansion would not take place
until 1994.
