A major component of that plan was the
creation of a county-wide trail system which includes connections to regional and local
community trails inside and outside the county. The proposed project was identified in our
planning process as a valuable link to the Mississippi River Regional Trail which will provide an
alternate method of transportation along the Highway 10 corridor. In addition, the proposed
project will provide direct access to the state's most valued natural resource, the Mississippi
River.
We are very encouraged by the grant application the City of Elk River is submitting to the
Minnesota Department of Natural Resource's Local Trail Connections Program. I would urge
the MnDNR to consider funding this project through this grant program.
Thank you again for this opportunity to submit a letter of support on behalf of the Anoka County
Parks and Recreation Department. I look forward to working with you in the future.
Sincere ,
John Von eLinde
Director
OPEN SPACES IN NEARBY PLACES
Phone: 763.757.3920 v,~ww.anokacountyparks.com Fax: 763.755.0230
