Elk River Municipal Utilities <br />Job Title: Electric Superintendent <br />Job Summary: This position oversees the electric distribution system and power plant facilities including <br />the day to day direction of the associated personnel. This position reports to the General Manager. <br />FLSA Status: Exempt <br />Job Duties and Responsibilities: <br />1. Directly supervises and coordinates the day to day operation of the electric department <br />including distribution, substations, and power plant. Coordinate work with other departments <br />as required. <br />2. Identifies and priorities projects and assigns work to personnel ensuring a productive and safe <br />working environment. Monitors safety compliance of equipment. <br />3. Assists in the design of overhead and underground distribution system with manager of <br />engineering. <br />4. Provides information to purchasing department to ensure proper materials and equipment is on <br />hand to operate efficiently. <br />5. Provide short and long range planning for electric system improvements. Plans for future <br />territory acquisition. <br />6. Meets and works with developers, contractors, and customers to coordinate and construct the <br />necessary electric infrastructure. Locate transformers and size properly. <br />7. Produces budgets for known projects. Assists General Manager in preparing annual electric <br />budget. <br />8. Provide cost estimates for projects to be billed and establish a deposited amount. <br />9. Monitor feeder and substation loads and balance as required. <br />10. Provide detailed switching instructions for feeder and substation load relocations <br />11. Stay current in industry trends including safety compliance, DOT regulations, NESC code <br />changes, and new material, equipment, and design advances. <br />12. Other duties as assigned <br />Job Qualifications: <br />1. High School graduate with 1 year vocational training as an electric lineperson. <br />2. Minimum lineperson classification and being very knowledgeable about electric distribution <br />system <br />3. Ability to obtain class B State of Minnesota drivers license <br />4. Demonstrable leadership ability along with good employee and customer relations skills <br />5. High ethical standards to set tone for electric department <br />6. Computer literate <br />
