UD to 15 total <br />Describe past and current land use and land cover. <br />Site lies at the north end of the Top of the World park and immediately adjacent to the Great <br />Northern Trail, and bordered on the north by CR33. The site is former pastured grassland that is <br />now retired. <br />Project Overview (50 words or less; include a summary of the project, total project cost, and <br />amount of Greenways funding requested.) <br />Conduct natural areas restoration at Top of the World site, including control invasive trees and shrubs <br />in an area that was formerly pastured and restore species rich prairie/savanna. Design and install <br />natural history interpretive signage/kiosk along Great Northern Trail/CR33 area to increase park <br />patron exposure to ecology of the site. <br />I. Potential Ecological Value (Primary Criteria) <br />A. Plant Community/Habitat Quality <br />Sites located within, buffering, or connecting to a Regionally Significant Ecological Area and/or having rare species/plant <br />communities will receive higher priority. The restoration plan must be ecologically sound and appropriate for the site. Current and <br />future use of lands adjacent to the site should not signiftcantly diminish the ecological quality of the site over time. <br />Describe the existing and proposed ecological qualities and features of the site. Include <br />information on plant communities, aquatic features, wildlife use, rare species, and specific <br />restoration needs. <br />The restoration area lies on the north side, and contiguous to a high quality oak forest (immediately <br />adjacent MCBS natural areas and Site of Biodiversity Significance).
