The Board of Commissioners may wish to also consider the provisions
of MN Stat Sec 469.090 to 469.1081, as they develop the charge to
the EDA, should they adopt the recommendations of the Taskforce.
Conclusion
In conclusion, after significant consideration, the task force recommends that the
Sherburne County Board of Commissioners establish an Economic Development
Authority for the purpose of fostering county wide economic development, which
is critical to the long-term well-being of Sherburne County. The structure should
be cooperative, complimentary, supportive and collaborative.
The structure will support effective implementation of the Economic Development
Strategy and Workplan approved by the County Board of Commissioners on May
17, 2005.
It is our belief that an economic development authority will provide a valuable
framework enabling the county to complement and support townships and cities,
and establish a cooperative county-wide approach to economic development.
Stewart Wilson, Chair
Economic Development Structure Task Force
G:\Dept\Administration\admndata\committees\econ dvlp Task Force\ecDev Task Force Rpt 8-10-06
19
