ver <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Parks and Recreation Commission <br />FROM: Rich Czech, Ice Arena Manager <br />DATE: November 12`h, 2008 <br />SUBJECT: Staff Report <br />Hot Topic(s~ of the Month <br />Holiday Session of Learn to Skate Classes starts November 17t''. <br />November Programs <br />Starting in September, the Arena began having charity open skating sessions once a month, <br />that benefit either Hinote's Heroes, or CAER. For November, we will be having a <br />Thanksgiving Open Skate benefiting Hinote's Heroes, on Sunday, November 22°d <br />We are also conducting a raffle for a pair of tickets to see the MN Wild vs St. Louis <br />Blues(Hinote's team) all proceeds will benefit the charity. <br />Special Marketing Efforts <br />• We are continuing with the Breakaway Hockey League Newsletter, the latest edition <br />was sent out in October. <br />• Since the last regular session meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission, we <br />have completed and printed out a new tri-fold brochure advertising our Learn to <br />Skate Program. <br />• We are in the process of starting up an arena newsletter which will be distributed to <br />all Youth Hockey families, Breakaway Families and Learn to Skate participants. <br />• The new Zamboni arrived early October. It is in the process of being "wrapped" <br />with vinyl advertising for Environmental Services (Randy's Sanitation). It will be <br />completed by the end of October, and will be in service early in November. <br />Facility Use <br />Cameras are being installed for security purposes. <br />
