1996 CLEAN-UP DAY <br /> Saturda. y, April 27, 1996 <br /> from 8.00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. <br /> Location: City Maintenance Garage <br /> ~~ 19000 Elk Lake Road, City of Elk River <br /> <br /> The City of Elk River is organizing a Clean-Up Day for Elk River residents to recycle or dispose of several "hard <br />to dispose of materials". Only Elk River residents will be allowed to participate and IDs will be checked at the gate. <br />The following items will be collected: <br /> · Tires: $1 per passenger tire, <br /> $3 per semi tire <br /> $5 per tractor tire <br /> · Appliances: $4 per appliance, $8 per air conditioner (no water softeners) <br /> · Auto Batteries: No Charge <br /> · Scrap Metal: No Charge <br /> · Furniture: $4 per item (mattresses, box springs, sofa, ch~irs, <br /> tables, dressers and carpet) <br /> · Fluorescent bulbs: 50¢ per bulb (BROKEN BULBS WILL NOT BE <br /> ACCEPTED) Save original packaging to store the bulbs <br /> in for disposal. <br /> · Leaues/grass dippings: No Charge <br /> <br />No general junk, construction materials or garbage will be accepted. <br /> Household hazardous waste such as paints, household cleaners, solvents, etc. will NOT be accepted at the Elk <br />River Clean-Up Day. Residents wishing to dispose of household hazardous waste should contact the Tri-County <br />Household Hazardous Waste Facility in St. Cloud at 1-800-450-6140. <br /> <br /> If you have any questions concerning the Clean-Up Day event, please feel free to call Elk River City Hall at 441- <br />7420. <br /> April 20- 27, 1996 is National Volunteer Week. Volunteers are the heart of Minnesota, and volunteers are still <br />needed to help with Clean-Up Day! If you are interested in helping your community, getting some volunteer hours, <br />meeting your neighbors and spending time outdoors, call Kendra Lind~hl at 441-7420. <br /> <br />Business Recycling <br /> <br /> Would you like to reduce your waste and in- <br />crease your bottom line? Of course you would! Elk <br />River businesses should watch the mail for the new <br />Tri-County Recycling Guide. The guide provides <br />examples of ways your business can reduce its <br />garbage cost by simple actions. It also lists some <br />area businesses that have reduced, reused, and <br />recycled their way to a healthier bottom line. For <br />more information about ways your business can <br />-- ,ease its bottom line, contact Kendra Lindshl at <br /> _1-7420. <br /> <br />Compost Site <br /> <br /> The City of Elk River Compost Site will be reopening on <br />Saturday, April 27, 1996. The Compost Site is offered as a free <br />service to Elk River residents. Residents may bring their leaves <br />and grass clippings, dump them and bring the empty containers <br />back home. Currently, the site is drop-offonly.
