MEMORANDUM TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: Pat Klaers, City Ad~tr~0r DATE: March 25, 1996 [~J SUBJECT: Administration Items The activity level around City Hall has been very high and, to be truthful, there hasn't been a great deal of time available to do detailed memos on the administration items for the 3/25/96 meeting. Accordingly, this memo on the administration agenda items will be brief and most of the background on the items will be presented verbally at the meeting. 5.4. Ice Arena/Mighty Ducks Grant (Round Two) Per action of the City Council on 3/11/96, the city is on schedule to receive ice arena bids in mid-to-late April (see attachment). Information has been received from the Sports Commission regarding the second round of the Mighty Ducks Grant program (see attachments). Funds at this time have not officially been approved for the second round of the grant program, but this is expected to take place in the very near future. Accordingly, grant applications are due April 5, 1996. The Elk River Grant application will be the same as before with a cover letter explaining the changes in the project to reduce the overall cost of the arena. It is appropriate for the City Council to approve a motion authorizing the resubmission of the Mighty Ducks Grant application for the arena project as amended. 5.5. Cass Property Update The Cass property purchase has been completed. The city now owns 115 acres in the southwest corner of 165th Avenue and Jarvis Street. As previously reviewed by the Council, this property will be used for recreation fields, sludge land (which will later be used for recreation 13065 Orono Parkway · P.O.
