Bidder <br />Triple Combination Pumper Specifications for the 24 Complies <br /> <br />City of Elk River Minnesota Yes No <br />Windshield Washer Comrols. <br />ELECTRICAL POWER CONTROL SYSTEM <br />Electrical compartments shall be provided in the cab to house the vehicles electrical power and <br />signal circuit protection and control components. The power and signal protection and control <br />compartmems shall contain circuit protection devices, power control devices, and vehicle <br />interface modules. Power and signal protection and control components shall be protected <br />against corrosion, excessive heat, excessive vibration, physical damage and water spray. <br />Serviceable components shall be readily accessible. <br />Circuit protection devices, which conform to SAE standard, shall be utilized to protect each <br />circuit. All circuit protection devices shall be sized to prevent wire and component damage <br />when subjected to extreme current overload. General protection circuit breakers shall be <br />Type-I automatic reset (continuously resetting) or Type-II (manual resetting) and conform to <br />SAE J553 or J258. When required, automotive type fuses conforming to SAE J554, J1284, <br />J1888 or J2077 shall be utilized to protect electronic equipment. <br />Power control relays and solenoids shall have a direct current (dc) rating of 125 percent of the <br />maximum current for which the circuit is protected. <br />A programmable logic controller shall be utilized to achieve advanced control of the electrical <br />system. The microprocessor-based system shall be extremely reliable, Shock proof, vibration <br />resistant and moisture proof. The system shall comply with all appropriate SAE J1939 <br />recommended practices. The compactness of the system shall reduce overall components and <br />wiring size thus the vehicles, weight. <br />In addition to a visual message center, the logic controller shall activate status indicators and <br />audible alarms designed to provide early warning of problems before they become critical. The <br />programmable logic controller shall include the following attributes: <br />- On-board self diagnostic messages and status indicators <br />- Visual LED confirmation of communication at each Vehicle Interface Module and ECU <br />- Automatic self-test on startup and during vehicle operation <br />- Eliminate control logic relays wherever possible <br />- Provide logic control for NFPA 1901 mandated safety interlocks and indicators <br />Utilize system integration to eliminate redundant wiring and components <br />Page 24 <br /> <br /> <br />
