REQUEST FOR ACTION
To Item Number
Ci Council 3.7.
Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by
Consent Au ust 18, 2008 Ter Maurer, Public Works Director
Item Description Reviewed by
Approval of a Supplemental Agreement for Watermain Bryan Adams, ERMU General
Installation on Sherburne County Road 40 (Cleveland Avenue) Mana er
Project Reviewed by
Lori ohnson, Ci Adminstrator
Action Requested
Approval of an increase in price for the watermain installation on the County Road 40 project,
due to increased material costs.
Background/Discussion
The original bid for the watermain installation on this project was $90 per lineal foot. Due to
continued consolidation of unsuitable soils under the road, the watermain in the area of the
surcharge has not been able to be installed as of yet. Due to increased material cost over the last
year, the contractor is requesting an additional $8.83 per lineal foot. Bryan Adams, General
Manager of the Elk River Municipal Utilities, has reviewed this request and verified that the cost
is reasonable. He recommends approval of this requested increase in watermain installation costs.
Financial Impact
The City is paying for the installation of this watermain in an agreement reached with the Elk
River Municipal Utilities. The City's method of recovering this cost in the future would be
assessments to developable property in this general area. The increase of $8.83 per lineal foot is
estimated to have a total increased cost of $11,258.25.
Attachments
• Supplemental Agreement No. 3 (City is only responsible fox water main costs)
Action Motion by Second by Vote
Follow Up
S:\EngineexImprovPxoj\2008 Improvement Projects\Co Rd 40 Watermain cc memo.doc
