Following the award of that quote to the low firm, the Chief of Police received
additional information regarding the quote from the local vendor. This
additional information is discussed in the attached memo from Tom. Per
consultation with the city attorney, it is legal to reevaluate the quotes and to
award the quote to the local firm if desired, based on additional information.
It is staffs recommendation that the City Council rescind its action of
February 5 and approve another motion awarding the bid to the local vendor.

St. Cloud Intern

The fifth item under Other Business relates to a graduate student who has
requested to do intern work for the city for 30-40 hours per week for two
months. This internship gives the student some work experience while the
city obtains some benefits or results from this work. Lori and Steve Ach are
meeting with this student on Friday and, if everything works out, I would
like to discuss hiring the intern for two months at minimum wage.

Lease Rental Agreement (Nord House)

A sixth item for the Council under Other Business is an update on the lease
agreement for the Nord house that the city owns by the golf course and
Woodland Trails Park. The city tries to keep this house occupied to help
monitor park activities. The current tenant will be leaving at the end of
February and the city has made arrangements for a new tenant on April 1,
1996. I would like to update the Council on this new tenant and on some
maintenance issues that should be accomplished in March plus some outside
maintenance issues that should be addressed this summer.

s:Xcouncil\othrbus.doc
