Consider Park Improvement FundinIZ Pohcy <br />Page <br />Tr, Simon reviewed the proposed Park Trnpzovement Funding Po cy. <br />Mr. Maertz stated staff thought it would be a good idea to install a board at the liquor stores <br />highLight'Mg the projects the Liquor operations have helped funded. He reviewed projects <br />that could be funded in 2008. <br />Mr. Simon indicated that he would be back, at a meeting in the near future Nvith a transfer <br />resolution for 2008. <br />MOVED BY COUNCILMEMBER GUM HREY AND SECONDED BY <br />COUNCILMEMBER MOTIN TO A-PPROVE THE PARK IMPROVEMENT <br />FUNDING FOLIC', MOTION CARRIED 5�0. <br />.. 2009 Budzet Discus <br />Ms. Johnson reviewed her staff report. She stated there is currently a projected short afl in <br />the 2008 budgeted revenues due to decreased building and development activity. Several <br />positions have been delayed or not Fed and staff is watching overtime pay very carefully in <br />order to reduce this potential deficit. In addition several budget items for projects and <br />consulting NviH not be spent in 9.008. <br />Ms. Johnson rioted that staff is worldng on revenue projections for the 2009 budget. She <br />quesEoned whether the County granted to base the property tax levy for next year on the- <br />state <br />hestate Lmposed levy limits or restrict the increase to the amount avai able if the tax rate is kept <br />p <br />the same as 2008 which may be less than the amount allowed under levy its. <br />The Council noted they don't want to increase the tax rate. <br />The Council reviewed and noted changes to the folloWin 9009 budget requests: <br />r+ — Countil <br />Deletion of the photo cess ion , Hwy 10 ,SPA, Facilitator for planning Workshop, <br />HPC item for archaeological dig. <br />Conferences /Schools reduced to $5.,000 <br />Mayor Klinzing v` draft a letter to the HNv-y 10 coalition informing them of the city's <br />withdrawal. STs. Johnson stated the city could join forces with Sherburne County to try and <br />get transportation funding from the state. <br />ouncilme 5ber Gumphrey suggested a pay cut for Councilmembers. <br />The Council discussed employee recognition and felt it would be beneficial to keep it in the <br />budget With an increase to the amount of $2,500. <br />`able TV - <br />r. He stated concerns with not having back-up staff for the cable -cast of live <br />meetings when he is out sick or on vacation and due to the technical nature of the position. <br />
