Memo to Mayor and City Council/CU 02-09 <br />April 15, 2002 <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />The City Engineer is currently working with the Minnesota Department of Transportation <br />regarding the appropriateness of condition Five above. Additional information will be <br />available at the meeting for the Council to consider. <br /> <br />The site plan has been revised to provide the required parking. <br /> <br />In regards to the use of standing seam metal roofing in a residential district, this building <br />material is becoming more popular in residential applications. The life span of this material <br />far exceeds that of other roofing materials. Proper color selection will ensure that the roof <br />will not be obtrusive to the adjacent neighborhood. Staff recommends that the condition <br />requiring asphalt or cedar shingles be deleted. <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the City Council approve the request to expand City Hall and to <br />construct a Public Safety Facility with the following conditions: <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />4. <br /> <br />THE BUILDING SHALL COMPLY WITH ALL APPLICABLE FIRE <br />AND BUILDING CODES. <br />THE LANDSCAPE PLAN SHALL BE REVISED TO COMPLY WITH <br />STAFF COMMENTS. <br />THE SIGNAGE SHALL COMPLY WITH THE INSTITUTIONAL <br />REQUIREMENTS OF THE RIC ZONING DISTRICT. <br />SIGNAGE AND WARNING LIGHTS SHALL BE INSTALLED ON <br />ORONO PARKWAY TO WARN PEDESTRIANS AND MOTORISTS <br />OF EMERGENCY VEHICLES ENTERING. <br /> <br />S:\PLANNING\Case Files\CU 02-09 City Hall\4 15CCmemo.doc <br /> <br /> <br />
