Barnhart, Jeremy
From: Kirt O'Kone
Sent: Wednesday, October 10, 2007 12:58 PM
To: Barnhart, Jeremy
Subject: FW: Stoneworks Information
Jeremy,
Following is a description of the proposed changes to be made at the Stoneworks Architectural Precast
operation.
1. We will construct an 8' high berm, located along the North and East property lines of our site.
This berm will aide in limiting the noise associated with our operation, and will serve as a barrier
to limit visibility.
2. We will construct a 30' X 50' fabric covered building to enclose our sandblasting and cutting
operations. (similar to the structure at the City Maintenance site) This building will include a
dust collection system. The anticipated construction schedule would be 6 weeks to fmish this
project. We will continue to operate our power-washing finishing process (about 5% of our
business) outside. The power washing process is not a loud noise generating procedure.
3. We will propose the following hours of operation -
Inside Operations - 6 am - 6 pm - 7 days a week.
Outside Operations -lam - 6 pm -Monday thru Friday, Sam - 5 pm -Saturday, and 12pm - 5
pm -Sunday.
As suggested by the City of Elk River Environmental Administrator, Rebecca Haug, we
contacted Matt Ledvina with Natural Resource Group regarding noise and dust testing. He
stated enclosing the sandblasting and cutting operations would prohibit the need to do this
testing.
If any additional detail is needed regarding this matter, please contact me. I believe the proposed
changes will effectively address the noise and dust concerns of our neighbors, and allow us to
operate our business adequately.
Sincerely,
Kirt O'Konek
~` ton+~wvrks
y;..~. ~.• AK.CNef~C7Si~Ay PREC+~SY.iKG
Kirt O'Konek
Preside
10/10/2007
