Second by Tom. <br />Discussion followed. Mark said he did not strongly oppose the <br />motion to consider the move, but still had reservations about <br />actually making the move to EMT-I. Voice vote was taken - <br />Steve, Rob, Tom, M.J., Dr. Rock - AYE; Mark - NAY. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />4. M.J. had a question about protocol for the auto defibulation <br />machine. She wondered why the machine shocked at 200 twice; <br />why it didn't go to 360 on the second. Steve said it was <br />programmed that way and it could be re-programmed. No formal <br />action taken. <br /> <br />s. <br /> <br />Tom questioned whether the service had considered dropping the <br />requirement that ambulance EMTs also be firefighters. He felt <br />that they could increase their roster if they did this. Steve <br />said the roster is now 14. The ideal number of ambulance <br />members would be 20. Steve said that he is personally in <br />favor of changing. There has been discussion, but Steve feels <br />that the majority do not want to change and feels there will <br />be no change in the near future. No action taken. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />6. Steve gave run statistics through August: 109 Advance Life <br />Support (ALS) , up 3% from last year; 226 Basic Life Support <br />(BLS) , up 11% from last year; 171 No Charge/No Load (NC) , up <br />6% from last year. He also reported that the service had <br />completed its two year license renewal. <br /> <br />7. Steve reported that the Rum River Clinic was planning on using <br />Elk River Ambulance for its BLS runs. <br /> <br />8. Dr. Rock reported that there is a problem with Elk River <br />deaths that are pronounced at Mercy or other out-of-county <br />hospitals. He suggested that Sherburne County look at the <br />possibility of using Anoka County medical examiners for <br />autopsies. This issue would have to be addressed by the <br />Sherburne County Sheriff's and Attorney's Offices. No action <br />taken. <br /> <br />9 . <br /> <br />Steve reported that the West Sherburne Tribune had an article <br />on advanced life support coming to the Big Lake-Monticello <br />Ambulance Service. Steve said the reception to ALS was not <br />good. He said Big Lake Township expressed an interest in <br />using Elk River Ambulance if this occurred.
