OA-94-

ISSUE

Consider request by the City of Elk River to amend section 900.20, 900.12,
and section 900.08 of the Elk River City Code related to accessory structures.

e ATTACHMENTS

Ordinance 94-_

Copy of February 22, 1994, and January 25, 1994, Planning Commission
memos.

ANALYSIS

Staff is proposing several modifications to the standards relating to accessory
structures. Throughout the past year, the City processed several conditional
use permits applications for accessory structures that exceeded City
standards. The number of requests for large accesory buildings (as well as a
lack of standards by which to gauge each request) led to several proposed
changes. The major changes were identified in the attached memos to the
Planning Commission.

SUMMARY OF MAJOR CHANGES

1.

The proposed ordinance combines the size of attached garages as well
as detached accessory structures in computing the maximum size.
Currently there is no minimum size standard for attached garages.

e

P.O.
