<br />Sick or Iniured Child Care Leave Policv <br /> <br />Employees who have worked at least one-halftime during the twelve months preceding a leave <br />are entitled to use accrued personal sick leave benefits for absences due to an illness of or injury <br />to the employee's minor child, or a child under 20 years of age attending secondary school. <br /> <br />School Activities Leave Policv <br /> <br />Employees who have worked at least one-halftime during the proceeding twelve months are <br />entitled to up to 16 hours leave during any 12-month period to attend school conferences or <br />classroom activities related to the employee's child, provided the conferences or classroom <br />activities cannot be scheduled during non-work hours. If an employee's child receives child care <br />services or attends a pre-kindergarten regular or special education program, the employee may <br />use the leave time to attend a conference, or activity related to the employee's child, or to observe <br />and monitor the services and program, provided the conference, activity or observation cannot be <br />scheduled during non-work hours. <br /> <br />When the need for leave under this section is foreseeable, the employee must provide reasonable <br />prior notice of the leave to his or her immediate supervisor and make a reasonable effort to <br />schedule the leave so as not to unduly disrupt City business. <br /> <br />Bone Marrow Donation Leave <br /> <br />Employees who work an average of twenty (20) or more hours per week who seek to undergo a <br />medical procedure to donate bone marrow will be granted up to forty (40) hours of paid leave. <br />The City may require verification by a physician of the purpose and length of each leave <br />requested by the employee to donate bone marrow. <br /> <br />National Guard and Reserve Leave <br /> <br />Any officer or employee of the City who is a member of the National Guard or other reserve unit <br />is entitled to a leave of absence from public office or employment without loss of pay, seniority <br />status, efficiency rating, vacation leave, sick leave, or other benefits for the time that he/she is <br />engaged with the reserve in training or active service so long as such leave does not exceed a <br />total of fifteen (15) days in any calendar year. Such leave will be allowed only in cases where the <br />required military or naval service is satisfactorily performed. Such leave will not be allowed <br />unless the officer or employee: <br /> <br />. Returns to the public position immediately on being relieved from such <br />military or naval service and not later than the expiration of the time herein <br />limited for such leave; or <br /> <br />. Is prevented from returning to City employment by physical or mental <br />disability or other cause not due to the officer's or employee's own fault; or <br /> <br />19 <br />
