Event: D.A.R.E. to build a house in seven days Location: Elk River, Minnesota Dates: August 16 - 22, 1993 Sponsors: Suburban Northwest Builders Association Marketing Images Rick Olson Seminars Elk River Police Department City of Elk River The house to be built will meet the highest standards as established by the Builders Association. It will incorporate innovative design and energy efficient features of the highest quality. It will be featured as part of our Parade of Homes exhibit, so everyone will have a chance to view the quality and workmanship. It will be a home our community will be proud of. (attached are sample homes as featured in the Builders Assn. Spring Home Preview). Costs and Expenses This project's success will rely heavily on the donation of time, talent and materials of all associated building businesses. Expenses incurred will be settled at the time of closing. Structure A Project Steering Committee will be created. It will consist of Two Project Leaders (one a professional event coordinator, and the other a profess~onal youth rally specialist who has coordinated a similar project in California to benefit youth ministeries). Special Task Forces under the Project Leaders will be: Builder Assn. - Will assign a General Contractor to orchestrate building the home. And, will work closely with the Generalf Contractor to assure availability of laborers etc. General Contractor - Will work with Donated Services Task Force to keep them aware of building material needs. Make recommendations of subcontractors to contact for the project. Give definition to the build schedule Work Force Coordinator - Take direction from the General Contractor as to labor needs and scheduling. Donated Services Task Force - Will be responsible for contacting businesses, manufacturers and other related building vendors for donation of their products, as determined by the General Contractor.
