<br />3. Performs other essential job duties. <br />A. Performs other tasks during the off season. <br />B. Assists with preparations for special events and activities. <br />C. Keeps Park and Recreation Director informed of progress and job status. <br />D. Regular and timely work attendance. <br />E. Follows all safety procedures. <br />F. Participates in safety training. <br /> <br />Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities <br />o Ability to operate light motorized park maintenance equipment. <br />o Ability to perform light equipment maintenance. <br />o Ability to lift SO pounds unassisted. <br />o Ability to safely complete minor electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work utilizing power <br />hand tools. <br />o Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule. <br />o Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods, and to perform strenuous <br />physical labor under adverse environmental conditions. <br />o Ability to communicate orally and in writing. <br />o Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. <br />o Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, <br />and the public. <br />o Ability to train others in their jobs. <br />o Ability to diagnose causes of problems related to plants, grasses, and the equipment used in <br />golf course maintenance. <br />o Extensive knowledge of turf grasses and other common golf course plants and their diseases <br />and maintenance. <br />o Extensive knowledge of soils and other landscape materials and their characteristics and <br />uses. <br />o Extensive knowledge of the equipment used in golf course maintenance and the operation <br />and maintenance of that equipment. <br />o Knowledge of landscape and golf course design. <br />o Knowledge of the game of golf and the relation of course design and maintenance to the <br />game. <br />o Knowledge of automatic irrigation systems, pumps, and drainage systems and their <br />maintenance. <br /> <br />Minimum Qualifications <br />o High school diploma or equivalent. <br />o Completion of a two-year golf management program or equivalent. <br />o Five years related work experience. Additional education in turf management or related field <br />may substitute on a year-for-year basis for up to two years of the required experience. <br />o Valid driver's license. <br />o Ability to obtain and maintain a Minnesota Pesticide Applicator's License. <br />o One year supervision experience. <br /> <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />Golf Course Superintendent <br />
