<br /> <br />City of Elk River <br />Golf Course Superintendent <br />Position Description <br /> <br />Pay Grade: <br /> <br />FLSA Status: <br />Exem t <br /> <br />Immediate Supervisor: <br />Park and Recreation Director <br />Last Updated: (date) <br />3/15/06 <br /> <br />Department: <br />Park and Recreation <br /> <br />8 <br />Positions Supervised: <br />Golf Course Clubhouse Coordinator and Seasonal Park Laborer <br /> <br />Position Summary <br />The Golf Course Superintendent maintains and improves Pinewood Golf Course and grounds, <br />including all buildings, structures and landscaping; to supervise subordinate workers in maintenance <br />activities at the golf course; and to perform related duties as assigned. <br /> <br />Essential Functions <br />1. Creates, maintains, and operates a golf course in a healthy, modern, and competitive state. <br />A. Creates and maintains golf course putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, <br />roads, ponds, streams, and related areas. <br />B. Plants and maintains trees, grasses, and ornamental plantings, including fertilizing, <br />mowing, irrigating, spraying, trimming, and composting. <br />C. Inspects and treats plants and greases for disease. <br />D. Implements a maintenance program for cart paths, bridges, benches, signs, dams, <br />spillways, ponds, and creeks. <br />E. Supervises services provided to the golf course by contractors. <br />F. Builds and maintains automatic irrigation systems, pumps, and drainage systems. <br />G. Plans and arranges the purchase and maintenance of equipment and supplies used in <br />golf course maintenance. <br />H. Responds to and resolves complaints made by golf course patrons. <br />I. Determines when golf course and clubhouse needs to close due to inclement <br />weather. <br /> <br />2. Organizes and directs the activities of assigned personnel. <br />A. Determines priorities, assigns work, and coordinates schedules of assigned <br />personnel. <br />B. Assists in the hiring, transfer, suspension, or discharge of assigned personnel. <br />C. Establishes work standards and perform employee evaluations. <br />D. Establishes work standards and perform employee evaluations. <br />E. Monitors work sites to ensure compliance with established methods, guidelines, <br />standards, procedures, and laws <br />F. Trains personnel in correct and safe methods and procedures necessary to <br />accomplish their assigned work. <br />G. Disseminates information to employees through bulletins and other means of <br />communication. <br />H.
