The turf on the soccer fields at the Community Education site is
doing much better and it is Phils' opinion that the fields could be
used this year if need be.

The irrigation system is installed on the softball field and the
two baseball fields at the Community Education site and the grass
will be seeded in the next few days.

Phil questioned the Commission about the
requirements for the proposed fields because
proposal ready for the September 29th City
a contractor may be selected yet this fall.

fence and backstop
he hopes to have a
Council meeting so that

3. Phil suggested that in future years, the Chamber of Commerce be
required to keep all carnival rides on the west side of Gary Street
for the 4th of July celebration. Phil said he felt Gary Street
could be closed for that event and that would leave more park areas
for people to enjoy and would certainly be less damaging to the
park. The Commission concurred with this suggestion.

9.

other Business

Chair Anderson expressed his frustration with the paper and trash that
is left on the roadside after the County fair parade. Pat Klaers said
the Park And Recreation Commission will receive more information at a
later meeting regarding an upcoming ordinance that will require permits
for carnivals and that some sort of deposit for parades could be
included in the ordinance and this may help with the problem of trash
clean up.

Chair Anderson stated that he had been approached by a resident
requesting an archery range in the City. It was the consensus of the
Commission that this did not affect enough people to make it worth
constructing.

10. Adjournment

There being no further business, COMMISSIONER ROHLF ANDERSON MOVED TO
ADJOURN THE MEETING. COMMISSIONER ST. DENNIS SECONDED THE MOTION. THE
MOTION CARRIED 4-0.

The meeting of the Elk River Park And Recreation Commission adjourned at
10:10 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Phil Hals
