Park & Recreation Commission Meeting February 7, 1990 Page 3 ROLFE ANDERSON MOVED TO RECOMMEND TO THE CITY COUNCIL ADOPTION OF AN ORDINANCE WHICH WOULD REGULATE THE SPEED AND DIRECTION OF BOATS ON LAKE ORONO. BARB NORTHWAY SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. It was noted that an ordinance similar to the Ci ty of Big Lake Ordinance #301 would be acceptable to the Commission and the Homeowners Association. The City Administrator indicated that there was a vacancy on the Community Center Task Force. No members of the Park and Recreation Commission expressed interest in volunteering for this committee. The City Administrator updated the Commission on the completed purchase of the Burlington Northern abandoned railroad bed; the attempts by the City to purchase land in Barrington Place for a small park; and the City's efforts to purchase some wooded flood plain property north of Highway 10 around Waco Street. Mr. Klaers indicated that the Commission should be looking at some type of improvements of the railroad trail in 1990 and some type of playground equipment being installed in the Barrington Place property. Additionally, it was noted that limited park and recreation activity is anticipated to be made available with the purchase of the property around Waco Street. This property is being pursued as right-of-way land for a bridge over the Elk River at this location. 7. Other Business Dave Anderson discussed with the Commission the Olympic Torch Run project which he is working on in the Elk River Area. A general discussion with the Commission members took place on recycling efforts and the RDF Plant. 8. Adjournment There being no further business, DAVE ANDERSON MOVED TO THE ADJOURN THE PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING. BARB NORTHWAY SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0.
