<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Park & Recreation Commission Meeting <br />February 7, 1990 <br /> <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />ROLFE ANDERSON MOVED TO RECOMMEND TO THE CITY COUNCIL ADOPTION OF <br />AN ORDINANCE WHICH WOULD REGULATE THE SPEED AND DIRECTION OF BOATS <br />ON LAKE ORONO. BARB NORTHWAY SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION <br />CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />It was noted that an ordinance similar to the Ci ty of Big Lake <br />Ordinance #301 would be acceptable to the Commission and the <br />Homeowners Association. <br /> <br />The City Administrator indicated that there was a vacancy on the <br />Community Center Task Force. No members of the Park and <br />Recreation Commission expressed interest in volunteering for this <br />committee. <br /> <br />The City Administrator updated the Commission on the completed <br />purchase of the Burlington Northern abandoned railroad bed; the <br />attempts by the City to purchase land in Barrington Place for a <br />small park; and the City's efforts to purchase some wooded flood <br />plain property north of Highway 10 around Waco Street. Mr. Klaers <br />indicated that the Commission should be looking at some type of <br />improvements of the railroad trail in 1990 and some type of <br />playground equipment being installed in the Barrington Place <br />property. Additionally, it was noted that limited park and <br />recreation activity is anticipated to be made available with the <br />purchase of the property around Waco Street. This property is <br />being pursued as right-of-way land for a bridge over the Elk River <br />at this location. <br /> <br />7. <br /> <br />Other Business <br /> <br />Dave Anderson discussed with the Commission the Olympic Torch Run <br />project which he is working on in the Elk River Area. <br /> <br />A general discussion with the Commission members took place on <br />recycling efforts and the RDF Plant. <br /> <br />8. Adjournment <br /> <br />There being no further business, DAVE ANDERSON MOVED TO THE ADJOURN THE <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING. BARB NORTHWAY SECONDED THE <br />MOTION.
