<br />Page 3 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Recreation Board Minutes <br />October 11. 1988 <br /> <br />Charlie discussed with the Recreation Board the Handke Pit warming house <br />situation and indicated that a lot of maintenance has taken place on the <br />structure but that it is still an inadequate warming house. The <br />Recreation Board requested that the need for a new warming house at <br />Handke Pit be reviewed in the spring of 1989. <br /> <br />Charlie and Phil both discussed with the Recreation Board the maintenance <br />of ice skating rinks during the upcoming winter season. Charlie <br />indicated ongoing problems with the maintenance of the hockey rink at <br />Handke school. Currently. school employees flood and maintain the rink <br />but the ice does not get sufficient attention. Charlie is hoping to work <br />with the City Staff in providing better maintenace in the hockey and open <br />skating area at Handke Pit this upcoming winter season. <br /> <br />Phil discussed with the Recreation Board the skating plans at Lion's <br />Park. The City is planning on purchasing hockey boards and the Lion's <br />Club will help install these boards. The warming house is anticipated to <br />be finished very shortly and that lights will be installed within the <br />near future. The City Staff will be in charge of maintaining the ice at <br />Lion's Park. <br /> <br />10. Other Business <br /> <br />. 10.1 Softball Complex Lighting System <br /> <br />Dave Anderson indicated that the Legion organization has agreed to <br />donate $1.000 per month to the Softball organization for the <br />purchase of the twelve poles needed at the Softball Complex. The <br />Legion would donate a total of $12.000 for these poles to the <br />Softball organization and the Softball organization would in turn <br />transfer this money to the City. Additionally. Mr. Anderson <br />indicated that UPA has agreed to donate up to 1~ days labor for <br />helping with the installation of these lights. The Staff and <br />Softball organization have met with the Municipal Utilities <br />Superintendent and the Utilities have offered to donate labor for <br />the installation of the needed wiring system and to supply the <br />materials at cost to the City. The project is anticipated to begin <br />in approximately one month.
