delegate or an alternate delegate to that convention. <br />Per the statutory requirement, the employee must give at least ten days' written notice of <br />their planned absence to attend committee meetings or conventions. Time away from <br />work for this purpose will be considered unpaid unless the employee chooses to use <br />vacation leave or compensatory time during their absence. <br />Administrative Leave <br />Under special circumstances, an employee may be placed on an administrative leave <br />pending the outcome of an internal or external investigation. The leave may be paid or <br />unpaid, depending on the circumstances, as determined by the city administrator. <br />Athletic Leave of Absence <br />An employee who qualifies as a member of the United States national team for athletic <br />competition on the world championship, Pan American, or Olympic team in a sport <br />sanctioned by the International Olympic Committee, shall be granted a leave of absence <br />without loss of pay or other benefits for the purpose of preparing for and engaging in the <br />competition. In no event shall the paid leave exceed the period of official training camp <br />and competition combined, or 90 calendar days a year, whichever is less.
