______________________________________________________________________________ <br /> <br />Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING TO: <br />ERMU Commission <br />FROM: <br />Dave Ninow – Water Superintendent <br />MEETING DATE: <br />November 12, 2025 <br />AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />6.01h <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None DISCUSSION: <br />• Delivered 8 new water meters, installed a Smart Point radio transceiver module, and <br />took curb stop ties. <br />• Completed 20 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples <br />o All confirmed negative for Coliform Bacteria. <br />o Bacteriological/Disinfectant Residual Monthly Report submitted to the MDH <br />• Completed 23 routine fluoride samples <br />o All samples met MDH standards <br />o Submitted MDH Fluoride Report <br />• Water department staff devoted a great deal of time and effort to finding ways to make <br />personal contact with residential customers who had been unresponsive to all previous <br />attempts to communicate that their water meter needed to be exchanged for the <br />Advanced Metering Infrastructure project. <br />• With the concrete pad for the onsite backup generator at Well #3 installed and initial <br />electric work roughed in, the generator was placed on October 29 in preparation for <br />connection. <br />• Now that there is an approved set of plans for Bradford Park 2nd Addition, work on new <br />water main installation has begun. <br />• The pipe, pump, and motor have been removed from Well #6 for scheduled <br />preventative maintenance checks. All five 20’ sections of pipe show signs of corrosion <br />most likely from electrolysis and will be replaced with new pipes. The pump and motor <br />are in good condition and will be put back in service. <br />• A revision of our original service line material inventory of all service connections in the <br />water distribution system has been submitted to MDH. The inventory shows that there <br />are 39 services consisting of galvanized pipe that MDH will require to be replaced, and <br />107 services where the pipe material is still unknown. We worked with Short Elliot <br />Hendrickson to revise the inventory through assistance we had applied for and received <br />through MDH. <br />• Verizon Wireless’ contractor held a preconstruction meeting for upgrades to their <br />telecommunications equipment at Auburn Street Water Tower.
