��i <br />Elk River <br />Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO: <br />FROM: <br />ERMU Commission <br />Mark Hanson — General Manager <br />MEETING DATE: <br />AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />August 12, 2025 <br />6.1a <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br />DISCUSSION: <br />• As we work to close out the residential Advanced Metering Infrastructure meter <br />replacements, staff continue to explore various messaging and installation options to <br />address non -responsive customers and feedback received from holdout customers. <br />• Staff have received several customer complaints regarding aggressive sales tactics by at <br />least one rooftop solar installation vendor. We are working with our legal counsel and our <br />City counterparts to identify potential courses of action that may include amending, and <br />possibly revoking, their solicitor's license. <br />• Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association's Summer Conference will be Monday, August 18 <br />- Wednesday, August 20 in Rochester, MN. The hotel and conference registrations for all <br />five commissioners, Admissions Director Sara Youngs, and myself have been confirmed. <br />• The Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (MMPA) Board of Directors met on July 22, 2025, <br />at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, Minnesota, and via videoconference. Commissioner <br />Stewart and I attended. The public summary follows: <br />o The Board reviewed the Agency's financial and operating performance for June <br />2025. <br />o Participation in the residential Clean Energy Choice program increased by 65 <br />customers. Customer penetration for the program is 6.5%. <br />o The Board discussed the status of renewable projects the Agency is pursuing. <br />o The Board discussed the Federal Budget Reconciliation Bill and the effect it will have <br />on MMPA's projects. <br />• MMPA's annual dinner meeting was held the evening of Tuesday, July 22 at Canterbury Park <br />in Shakopee, MN. Leadership from MMPA's managing consultant, Avant Energy, presented <br />a lookback from 2008 to 2025, an update on current and future projects, and a summary of <br />the Agency's Integrated Resource Plan. <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />127 <br />
