The at traction f or us was the downtown. We liv e downtown s o we don't hav e to park on the s treets but watching all the free on s treet parking fill up in the morning and people walk ing around town is what attracted us here. Downtown St. Cloud lost a lot of that when they redev eloped t hat area. Some of our favorite busines s es had to close. It's great that your as k ing for input. Also, hold more events (art fests , food fest s) t o get people to go downtown and feel more lik e a community. 8/25/2024 4:19 PM 68 You have a unique opportunity of making a cute downtown with s hops, restaurants etc. Don't bog down with hous ing and business. Make it very walk able and a destinat ion for tourist s to come v isit. Don't have it pas t the train trac k s either that is idiotic . If your intent is to add, max imiz e the footprint between Jacks on and main going towards Handke. I wouldn't even allow tenants t hat aren't part of the v ibe you want. Chiropractors , law offic es and insurance agencies should go somewhere else. Think of Niss wa, stillwater and other high traffic lit tle downtowns that attract people. Daddy -os would be a great option for for a fun new restaurant, possible roof top patio. I think capitalizing on the River ac c es s will help driv e revenue to local busines s es. Look ing for fun, loc al food eateries with that s mall town feel (Niss awa town v ibes come to mind) - easy t o walk around, shop, and find a place to s top to eat or munch on the f ood y ou pick ed up.
