Any employee who fails to <br />report or inaccurately reports hours worked will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and <br />including termination. <br />It is a violation of the Utilities’ policy for any employee to falsify a time card, or to alter <br />another employee’s time card. It is also a serious violation of Utilities policy for any <br />employee or manager to instruct another employee to incorrectly or falsely report hours <br />worked or alter another employee’s time card to under-report or over-report hours worked. <br />If any manager or employee instructs you to either (1) incorrectly or falsely under-report <br />or over-report your hours worked, or (2) alter another employee’s time records to <br />inaccurately or falsely report that employee’s hours worked, you should report the situation <br />immediately to the Payroll Specialist, the Finance Manager, or your supervisor/manager. <br />On Call Time For Non-Exempt Employees <br /> <br />Non-exempt employees in certain positions may be scheduled to be on call for duty of <br />various kinds. Compensation for time spent on call by non-exempt employees is generally <br />subject to applicable state and federal law and to the terms of any governing union contract. <br />Similarly, compensation for time spent actually working is paid according to applicable <br />state and federal law and to the terms of any governing union contract. <br />EXEMPT EMPLOYEES <br /> <br />Salary Basis of Compensation <br /> <br />If you are classified as an exempt employee, you will receive a salary that is intended to <br />compensate you for all hours worked for the Utilities. This salary will be established at <br />the time of hire or when you become classified as an exempt employee. While your salary <br />may be subject to review and modification from time to time, such as during salary review <br />times, the salary will be a predetermined amount that will not be subject to deductions for <br />variations in the quantity or quality of the work you perform. <br />Attendance and Recording Time for Exempt Employees <br /> <br />Although exempt employees are paid on a salary basis and not by the hour, all exempt <br />employees are nevertheless required to record all time spent working for the Utilities. This <br />is important for a variety of reasons, but it is not for the purpose of paying an exempt <br />employee other than on a salary basis. <br />For payroll purposes, the regular workweek for exempt employees of the Utilities is <br />defined as the week running from Tuesday morning at 12:00 a.m. to the following Monday <br />evening at 11:59 p.m. <br />The regular business workday for exempt employees is generally from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 <br />p.m. or 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., unless a manager, Director, or supervisor has specified other <br />expectations or arrangements. The Utilities generally expects that an exempt employee <br />will work forty or more hours in each workweek. Exempt employees are required to meet <br />the Utilities’ attendance standards, which the Utilities sets in its discretion. <br />100
