.

.

.

..

not fund any athletic team going to a state or
regional tournament. However, if a team wins at
the state level and is invited to a national
tournament, the Board would determine on a case
by case basis any funding or support for
participation in a national tournament. Motion
carried. Secondly, Kenny moved and Marlon
seconded a motion to fund the Elk River Hagen's
basketball team for a total of $250 to cover
some costs associated with participation in
the national tournament. if money is available
based upon final 1981 Board budget. Motion
carried. John Barth addressed the Board as to
a funding request for the Men's Basketball League
for the 1981 season. A philosophical discussion
occurred as to whether or not the Board should
directly support any adult league. It was the
position of the Board that adults have the
wherewithal to pay their own way and that the
Board should not fund the League. Marlon moved
and Ken seconded a motion to deny a request of
$200 for the Men's Basketball League. Motion
carried.

In order for the Board to respond in a more
helpful manner to any future funding request,
it was discussed that a standard request form
be developed to ask necessary questions of the
group's organization i.e., officers, funding,
objective, Elk River residents, etc. Attached
is a draft form which will be discussed further
at the next Board meetingo

D. No representative from Three Rivers Soccer
Association appeared and therefore, no further
discussion was seen as necessary.

C.

E. After contacting Don Strei of Counti Social
Services, it was learned that the suggested
program to help out "needy" residents participate
in recreational programs offered by Community
Education was not a clearly defined program.
Unless another specific request is received,
the Board will not take any action at this time.

V. New Business:

A. The funding request from Community Education for
the Elk River Senior Citizens activities was not
clear as to what level of support was being
requested. Mike will contact Chris Gove and
invite her to appear at the next Board meeting.
