He
indicated the project being discussed this evening is the reconstruction of Highland Road
from Proctor Avenue to Jackson Road. The proposal is to reconstruct Highland Road to an
urban section 34 foot wide with concrete curb and gutter and a 6 foot wide concrete
sidewalk on each side.

3.

Ouestion and Answers
After the presentation was complete, the informational meeting was opened to questions.
The following is a summary of the questions asked and answers given:

Q: Terry asked how many of the residents in attendance were at the November 2,2005
Informational Meeting.
A: All but one of the residents in attendance indicated they were also in attendance at
the November 2, 2005 meeting.

Q:
A:

Will the city plow the sidewalks?
Terry indicated the same question was asked at the November meeting and the
answer is the city Street Department will be responsible for snow removal from the
sidewalks because they are deemed to be of a general city use.

Q:
A:

Would the street reconstruction include storm sewer?
Yes, with an urban section, the concrete curb and gutter will convey the runoff to
the low points where a storm sewer system of small diameter pipes and catch basins
would collect the drainage and convey it to the same general areas where runoff
currently flows.

Q:
A:

Is the assessment that is proposed just for sidewalks?
No, the assessment proposed is for street improvements which include the street,
curb and gutter, sidewalks, storm sewer, and other amenities such as sodding of the
boulevard.

Q:
A:

Which side of the road will the sidewalk be constructed?
At this point, a six-foot wide sidewalk is being proposed on both sides of the
roadway.
