��i <br />Elk River , <br />Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO: <br />FROM: <br />ERMU Commission <br />Dave Ninow —Water Superintendent <br />MEETING DATE: <br />AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />August 13, 2024 <br />6.1h <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br />DISCUSSION: <br />• Delivered nine new water meters, installed a Smart Point radio transceiver module, and <br />took curb stop ties. <br />• Completed 20 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples <br />o All confirmed negative for Coliform Bacteria. <br />o Bacteriological/Disinfectant Residual Monthly Report submitted to the MDH <br />• Completed 22 routine fluoride samples <br />o All samples met MDH standards <br />o Submitted MDH Fluoride Report <br />• Submitted Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR) for the Water Treatment Plants to the <br />Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA). <br />• Submitted DMR for the Diesel Generation Plant to the MPCA. <br />• Lead and Copper Rule Revisions require public water systems to identify the service line <br />materials of all service connections in their distribution system regardless of ownership <br />status. All community water systems must prepare an inventory of ALL service lines <br />(including those not in use) connected to the distribution system. Utilizing available <br />assistance from MDH, engineering firm Short Elliot Hendrickson (S.E.H.) reviewed <br />ERMU, City, and County records to develop and submit the initial service line inventory <br />before the October 2024 deadline. <br />• A water distribution system improvement identified during planning for the Highway <br />169 Redefine project was connecting existing water main at the intersection of Main <br />Street and Zane Street. Connecting these mains will improve water service redundancy <br />and water flow in that area. Ames has installed about 200 feet of new water main pipe <br />to connect the existing mains in that area. Water department staff worked with Ames <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />112 <br />
