Sick Leave <br />Sick leave is not a privilege or vested right that an employee may use at his/her discretion. Eligible <br />employees may use sick leave only for the following: <br />■ When an employee is unable to perform work duties due to illness or disability (including <br />pregnancy). <br />■ For medical, dental, or other care provider appointments. <br />■ ��hen an employee has been exposed to a contagious disease of such a nature that his/her <br />presence at the workplace could endanger the health of others. <br />■ To care for the employee's injured or ill children, including stepchildren or foster children, for <br />such reasonable periods as the employee's attendance with the child may be necessary. <br />■ To take children, or other family members to a medical, dental, or other care provider <br />appointment. <br />■ To care for an ill family member for such reasonable periods as the employee's attendance <br />may be necessary. <br />} - _ - __ _ - <br />.-.-,L.,,.- ,.F � ,�1 , .,1� ,7,..-.-,,.�t:� ,.L..,�,. ,�11,:..,,. - ' <br />� '.. _ � _� ... . � _ . _ . .� _ ,. �. <br />For the purpose of this section, family member is defined as the employee's stepchild, biological, adopted <br />or foster child, ,a.,'� ,_,,:,av,,., spouse, ��parent, � ��,,.� : ,,._�_ �,.�,�,.� : ,,._�_ ,.�.,..a,.t,:,,a <br />g��rer�and stepparent. <br />� " , � � > > ", " � <br />� , . <br />, � > > <br />Paid sick lea�=e is provided for regular, full-time and on a prorated basis for eligible part-time employees. <br />Regular, full-time employees accrue sick leave at a rate of eight (8) working hours for each calendar <br />month reduced b�- Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESS1� b�u1k as defined belo�v. To be eligible, part-time <br />employees must work a set schedule with a minimum of forty (40) hours per biweekly pay period. Most <br />temporary, seasonal, and part-time employees are not eligible for sick leave. <br />Tor�ll leatre b�u�l�ed �s sicl� leave and ESST T���-�'��'����: will be checked on the last pay dayin <br />October of each year. <br />• If Employ ee is at or over 960 accrued �'.� hours, they will begin accruing leave at the rate of <br />eight (8) days per ��ear on the first pa�- day in No�rember. <br />• If Employee is under 960 accrued �.�e-'_, hours, they will remain accruing at the rate of twelve <br />(12) daj�s per y�ear. <br />When balances are checked on the last pay day in October the following year, employees accruing at <br />the eight (8) dayrs per year rate shall have one-half (1 /2) of the previous j�ear's accrued hours paid into <br />Emplo��ee's Post Emplo��ment Health Care Savings Plan and the remaining half will remain in the <br />employee's sick leave bank. (;��__� ,: If you begin the j�ear at the eight (8)-daj� accrual rate half of jrour <br />year's accrual will be paid into your PEHCSP at the end of the year and the other half will remain in <br />your bank.) <br />If the balance is below 960 when checked the following year, the employee returns to the twelve (12) <br />days per year accrual rate.
