i�1V�Y <br />Department: <br />Police <br />Pay Grade: <br />7E <br />Positions Supervised: <br />City of Elk River <br />I nvestigative Analyst <br />Position Description <br />Immediate Supervisor: <br />Adult Detective SeY eant <br />FLSA Status: Last Updated: (date) <br />Exempt 7/2023 <br />N/A <br />Position Summary <br />The Investigative Analyst works under the supervision of the Adult Detective Sergeant, <br />collaborates with all divisions of the police department as well as outside local, state, and federal <br />agencies. Responsible for collecting and anal�Tzing data describing crime patterns, criminal activityT, <br />and potential suspects for the suppression of criminal activities, aiding the investigative process, <br />and increasing apprehension of offenders. Assists Detectives with processing crime scenes and <br />maintainin� evidence. <br />Essential Functions <br />GatheYs and disseminates data and intelligence. <br />A. Prepares and disseminates crime alerts through various s�Tstems (i.e. Regional <br />Criminal Tracking and rinalyTsis Group (RCTAG), Tri-CounnT alert syTstem), as well <br />as monitors those syTstems for pertinent data. Revie`vs alerts from other agencies to <br />determine Yelatedness to Elk River activit�r. <br />B. Conducts searches within LeadsOnline, TLO, Accurint, and other intelligence <br />databases at the request of the assigned detective and as follow-up to information <br />gathering. <br />C. Searches various web-based sites for data to support investigations. <br />D. Inputs data in the ATF e-trace website. <br />E. Provides analyTtical, phyTsical, and/or coordination assistance during major case <br />invest�gat�ons. <br />F. GatheYs YepoYts from, and/oY disseminates reports to, otheY law enforcement <br />agencies or parmer disciplines. <br />G. Gathers intelligence on criminal patterns and trends and creates user-friendly reports <br />on the intel. <br />H. <br />I. <br />J• <br />K. <br />L. <br />M. <br />N. <br />Uses investigative data to link suspects and arrested persons to associates, vehicles, <br />and addresses. <br />Creates reports regarding suspects, known associates, and vehicles prior to the <br />execution of search warrants. <br />Communicates information and shares intelligence with other area criminal analyTsts <br />and investigators. <br />Works with local intelligence center and crime analyTsts to gather and review <br />pertinent data and relays to detective unit when appropriate. <br />Attends local regional investigator's meetings to collect and share information on <br />crime series, patterns, new methodologies, and developing tools. <br />Utilizes couYt �uebsites such as MGA, MNCIS, and VINELink to assist with <br />investigations and serves as a resource to other employees regarding these sources. <br />Serves as a resource to other employTees about crime analyTsis and how to access <br />automated YesouYces. <br />Page 1 <br />
