<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Park & Recreation Commission Minutes <br />November 12, 1997 <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />9. <br /> <br />Discussion followed regarding a park bond referendum in November 1998 and <br />inclusion of a swimming pool or water park. <br /> <br />Discussion of Elk River Youth Athletic Complex Fields <br /> <br />Phil Hals, streets/Parks Superintendent, indicated 90% of the posts have been <br />installed for the fencing at the Youth Athletic Complex. The fencing has been <br />delivered and will be put up when the posts are done. An additional fee of <br />$1,000 will be charged for tying the fencing on the inside. The ag lime been <br />delivered and installed. The concrete will be done in spring (by May 15th). The <br />Class V for the parking lot has been completed. The entrance will be paved as <br />well one leg of the field for foot traffic. Phil indicated the project is very close to <br />budget and final information will be provided at the December Park & <br />Recreation Commission meeting. <br /> <br /> <br />10.b. <br /> <br />10.c. <br /> <br />Phil indicated the old hockey boards have been taken out of Lions Park. He is <br />trying to locate a site for the second set. Phil indicated he plans to sandbag the <br />Deerfield IV site in the spring to divert the water and prevent flooding. <br /> <br />Handke Pit Warminq House <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER KUESTER MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE EXPENDITURE FOR A <br />CONSTRUCTION TRAILER TO BE USED AS A WARMING HOUSE AT HANDKE STADIUM. <br />COMMISSIONER MADSEN SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 8-0. <br /> <br />Woodland Trails Park Ski Trails <br /> <br />A message board will be placed at Woodland Trails Park to advise skiers of <br />practices and meets. The Commissioners and staff discussed usage of the trails <br />by other schools and clubs. The consensus was to consider charging a fee for <br />grooming costs and scheduling their practices in advance with Community <br />Recreation. <br /> <br /> <br />Phil will distribute water playground information he recently obtained. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />There being no further business, COMMISSIONER ROLFE ANDERSON MOVED TO <br />ADJOURN THE MEETING. COMMISSIONER WESTRUM SECONDED THE MOTION.
