<br />Park & Recreation Commission l'vlinutes <br />May 8,1996 <br /> <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />11. <br /> <br />Update on Woodland Trails Park <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Phil Hals, Street/Park Superintendent, stated that he has requested that Police <br />Chief Tom Zerwas increase police patrols in the parks. Phil Hals will put up signs in <br />Woodland Trails stating the park is closed from 10:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Phil Hals will <br />also look into the cost of converting the phone to 911 calls only. <br /> <br />Commissioner Madsen stated people do not know where Woodland Trails Park is <br />located. Commissioner Madsen suggested more signage and a. newspaper ad <br />with pictures. <br /> <br />12. Discussion on Grant for Railroad Trail <br /> <br />Phil Hals, Street/Park Superintendent, stated the Park and Recreation Commission <br />needs to hold a public hearing on this item in December. <br /> <br />13. Discussion on Other Park Land - Dana Anderson <br /> <br />Chair Dana Anderson stated Mr. Bailey would like the park located across from <br />the Dairy Queen named Bail.ey/Robins Park. Phil Hals, Street/Park Superintendent. <br />stated it is the City Council's policy not to have parks named after people. <br />Commissioner Dave Anderson stated eventually the park will be used as a trail. <br />Phil Hals will send Mr. Bailey a letter stating the City's policy, and, if Mr. Bailey <br />wishes to further address the issue, invite him to a future Park & Recreation <br />Commission meeting. <br /> <br />13.1 <br /> <br />Update on Sherburne County Workshop <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Commissioner Dave Anderson updated the Park and Recreation Commission on <br />the Sherburne County Workshops. <br /> <br />13.2 Discussion on Softball Liahtina <br /> <br />Commissioner Dave Anderson stated the City has been receiving complaints by <br />one individual regarding the softball lights. The individual stated the park should <br />be closed at 10:30 p.m., as it states in the ordinance, but activity is continuing <br />until approximately 11 :00 p.m. Commissioner Dave Anderson stated it will be <br />difficult to have the lights out by 10:30 p.m. and suggested re-writing the <br />ordinance to close at 11 :00 p.m. <br /> <br />14. Staff Updates <br /> <br />Phil Hals, Street/Park Superintendent, stated that on May 18, 1996, the City is <br />sponsoring a buy one get one free tree sale. The cost will be $10.00 for a 6'-8' <br />whip and $25.00 for a 1.25 inch diameter tree. The targeted developments are <br />Country Crossing, Heritage Landing, Meadowvale Heights, and Hidden Creek. <br />The tree Sale is from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. for the targeted residents, and open <br />to the public from 10:00 until 12 noon. <br /> <br />Phil Hals, Street/Park Superintendent. stated the Elk River Star News would like the <br />Park and Recreation Commission to put a $25.00 ad congratulating the Lions on <br />their 25th anniversary. The Park and Recreation Commission declined. <br /> <br />. <br />
