<br />Park & Recreation Commission Minutes <br />May 8, 1996 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />4. <br /> <br />Open Mike <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Mike Niziolek introduced some of his students who are interested in prairie <br />restoration adjacent to the parking lot along Woodland Trails Park. The students <br />are asking the Park and Recreation Commission for funding for seed. The students <br />should start planting before June 20, 1996. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER DAVE ANDERSON MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE PARK AND <br />RECREATION COMMISSION TO FUND $500 FOR THE PRAIRIE RESTORATION PROJECT <br />LOCATED IN WOODLAND TRAILS PARK AND TO COME UP WITH A FUND RAISING <br />PROJECT TO RAISE $100-$200 EXTRA. COMMISSIONER OLSON SECONDED THE <br />MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />5. Review Plannina Items <br /> <br />Phil Hals, Street/Park Superintendent, handed out four lot surveys from Steve Ach, <br />City Planner. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER DAVE ANDERSON MOVED TO ACCEPT CASH FOR PARK <br />DEDICATION FEES FOR HILLSIDE ESTATES SIXTH ADDITION. COMMISSIONER MADSEN <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER ROLFE ANDERSON MOVED TO ACCEPT CASH FOR PARK <br />DEDICATION FEES FOR RENNER ADDITION. COMMISSIONER OLSON SECONDED THE <br />MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER MADSEN MOVED TO ACCEPT CASH FOR PARK DEDICATION FEES <br />FOR PHEASANT RUN. COMMISSIONER DAVE ANDERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER DAVE ANDERSON MOVED TO APPROVE THE CONCEPT AND <br />LOCATION OF PARK AND SIDEWALK AND THE SECURITY LIGHTS RECOMMENDED BY <br />THE POLICE DEPARTMENT LOCATED IN COUNTRY CROSSING THIRD ADDITION. <br />COMMISSIONER MADSEN SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />6. Area Recreation Update - Jeff Asfahl <br /> <br />Jeff Asfahl, Community Recreation Director, is seeking input from the Park and <br />Recreation Commission on the continuing vision of Lions Park. Jeff Asfahl stated <br />Harold Gramstad is interested on working with the City for improvements on Lions <br />Park. The Lions have a check for $25,000 payable to the City to make the park <br />improvements. The Lions have a new playground set in storage and Phil Hals <br />stated it would cost approximately $5,000 to install it. The Commission would like <br />to pave the hockey rink, all the trails, and a skateboard ramp. Dave Anderson <br />suggests to have a designer design the skateboard ramp. The cost is estimated <br />at around $50,000 to pave all suggested items. Discussion was also held on a <br />man made pond to provide a swimming area. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER DAVE ANDERSON MOVED TO ADVANCE A ONE YEAR LOAN OF <br />$25,000 TO THE LIONS. COMMISSIONER MADSEN SECONDED THE MOTION. THE <br />MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />. <br />
