<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Park and Recreation Commission <br />Sept.ember 13, 1995 <br /> <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />6. <br /> <br />Review and Comment on Mississinpi Riverfront <br /> <br />This item was presented by Paul Paige, HKG Consultant for the Riverfront Project. <br />Mr. Paige presented the plan for the riverfront project to the commission. He stated <br />that he was looking for feedback from the commission on whether or not to move <br />forward on the proposed plan. <br /> <br />It was noted that the next public hearing on the riverfront project will be October 2, <br />1995. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER ROLFE ANDERSON MOVED TO APPROVE THE <br />CONCEPT OF THE RIVERFRONT PLAN. COMMISSIONER DONAIS <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 8-0. <br /> <br />7. Consider Pronosal for Railroad Trail Design bv the Hoisin~ton Koegler Group <br /> <br />7a. <br /> <br />7b. <br /> <br />Chair Dave Anderson presented this item. The Park and Recreation Commission <br />stated that for the price, they felt that the Hoisington Roegler Group would be an <br />asset in the planning of the bed. Commissioner Tuttle has reservations on this plan <br />based on having already planned this trail it seems redundant to have someone else <br />plan it also. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER ROLFE ANDERSON MOVED TO GO AHEAD WITH THE <br />HOISINGTON ROEGLERGROUP FOR THE TRAIL SYSTEM PLANNING. <br />COMMISSIONER MADSEN SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION <br />CARRIED 7-1. COMMISSIONER TUTTLE OPPOSED THIS MOTION. <br /> <br />Audio Presentation by Elk River Arts Council on Future Communitv <br />Arts/Community Center Facilitv <br /> <br />Louise Ruester, representing the Elk River Arts Council, presented an audio <br />presentation on future space for a community arts facility. Cliff Lundberg, with the <br />Elk River Arts Council, speaks on the tape. Plans were presented on this project by <br />Ms. Ruester. <br /> <br />Ms. Kuester stated that the next step for the Arts Council is to show the concept to <br />different groups for their input. Ms. Kuester points out the community room section <br />of the plans which could be used by the public for wedding receptions, etc. <br /> <br />The cost of this facility is $4 million to $7.5 million dollars. <br /> <br />Commissioner Donais stated that he is interested in the commercial values of a <br />facility like this. <br /> <br />Ms. Kuester stated that Citizens League trips to various cities to observe their <br />facilities will be available to whoever is interested. <br /> <br />Lake Orono Dred~in~ Committee <br /> <br />Steve Rohlf, Building and Zoning Administrator, presented this item. The Lake <br />Orono Dredging Committee is requesting the Park and Recreation Commission's <br />view on the dredging of Lake Orono for a silting problem. The Lake Orono <br />
