Consider Herita~e Trail <br /> <br />Sue Hallett, 13211 179 1/2 Avenue, Elk River, a concerned citizen living in Heritage <br />Landing, lead a discussion regarding the problems they and their neighbors are <br />having with the trail system ending at and near their property. Ms. Hallett <br />explained an incident where she had to call the police because offoul and abusive <br />language that she was receiving from kids along the path. Other concerned <br />neighbors were Nancy Peterson, Janelle and Jim Henry, Mark Klimstre, and Tom <br />Zerwas. . <br /> <br />7: 15 p.m. Louise Kuester arrived. <br /> <br />The citizens are concerned with this trail ending at this property leading to <br />nowhere; They say kids are coming to this point and getting off of their bikes and <br />creating problems. They also feel that their security, safety, and privacy are being <br />invaded. <br /> <br />Other concerns Ms. Hallett mentioned were stumps that were not properly taken <br />care of along the trial. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Chair Dave Anderson discussed his visit to this site after receiving a call from Ms. <br />Hallett on this incident. <br /> <br />Tom Zerwas, Elk River Police Chief and also a concerned citizen in this <br />neighborhood, stated that he felt policing of trails will be a necessity in the near <br />future. <br /> <br />Discussion was also held regarding homeowners along the trail feeling that they <br />were not informed on the trial when they purchased the property. Ms. Hallett asked <br />what the purpose of running a trail system through peoples back yards was. <br />Upkeep of the land around the trail was also an issue with Ms. Hallett. <br /> <br />Commissioner Huberty requested posting trail hours on the trail. <br /> <br />Tom Zerwas requested signage for emergency vehicles be posted on the trail and to <br />make sure that future land buyers be informed of the trails before purchasing. <br /> <br />7:40 p.m. Jeff Asfahl and Steve Rohlf arrive. <br /> <br />Chair Dave Anderson e)".'plained to the citizens that the trail system is new to Elk <br />River and due to rapid growth in the city we are learning as we go. He also <br />explained the Park and Recreation Commission's role in the park and trail system. <br /> <br />Mter this issue was discussed, the citizens left the meeting. <br /> <br />. <br />
