Call Meeting To Order <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the Elk River <br />Park and Recreation Commission was called to order at 7:15 p.m. by <br />Chair Anderson. <br /> <br />2. Consider 12/8/93 Park and Recreation Commission Agenda <br /> <br />Item 4.5, "LCMR Grant <br />COMMISSIONER O'BRIEN <br />COMMISSION AGENDA. <br />MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> <br />proposal/Mike Niziolek, was added to the agenda. <br />MOVED TO APPROVE THE 12/8/93 PARK AND RECREATION <br />COMMISSIONER OLSON SECONDED THE MOTION. THE <br /> <br />3. Consider 11/17/93 Park and Recreation Minutes <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER O'BRIEN MOVED TO APPROVE THE 11/17/93 PARK AND RECREATION <br />COMMISSION MINUTES. COMMISSIONER DANA ANDERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> <br />4 . Open Mike <br /> <br />No one was present for this item. <br /> <br />4.5. LCMR Grant Proposal/Mike Niziolek <br /> <br />Mr. Niziolek distributed a five sheet handout for securing a LCMR grant <br />to create an environmental learning center. The proposed building <br />would be approximately 2,000 square feet and would accommodate up to 50 <br />students for environmental education classes. The total funds <br />requested for the grant would be between $150,000 and $270,000 with the <br />lesser amount being used only for a building and improvements to <br />Woodland Trails park with the greater amount including the purchase of <br />two parcels of land; one being a virgin sand prairie, and the other a <br />virgin tamarack bog. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER DAVE ANDERSON MOVED TO RECOMMEND TO THE CITY COUNCIL THAT <br />THE CITY OF ELK RIVER BE THE LEAD SUPPORT AGENCY FOR THIS LCMR GRANT <br />APPLICATION WITH UP TO $70,000 NOT TO EXCEED 50% OF THE PROJECT AND IF <br />OTHER CONTRIBUTIONS ARE SECURED, THE CITY'S DOLLAR DONATION WOULD BE <br />
