<br />Park and Recreation Commission Minutes <br />February 3, 1993 <br /> <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />-------------------------------------- <br /> <br />The American Legion Post has approached staff and requested permission <br />to erect flag poles along the 6th street entrance into Lion's Park. <br />Phil Hals explained that the poles would be installed at no cost to the <br />City and the locations would be coordinated by him and his staff as he <br />sees no detrimental effects for the park. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER JOE ST. DENNIS MOVED TO RECOMMEND TO THE CITY COUNCIL THAT <br />THE LEGION BE PERMITTED TO ERECT THE FLAG POLES WITH STAFF DIRECTION AT <br />LION'S PARK. COMMISSIONER CLETE LIPETSKY SECONDED THE MOTION. THE <br />MOTION CARRIED 6-0. <br /> <br />10. Staff Updates <br /> <br />Pat Klaers informed the Commission members that Byron Houghtelin <br />submitted a letter of resignation effective immediately and requested <br />that the Commissioners encourage any perspective Commission members to <br />submit an application while the City advertises for possible applicants. <br /> <br />Pat Klaers suggested that the Commission change the term of service to <br />start later in the year since the year end holidays make it difficult <br />to find Commission replacements. After a discussion, it was the <br />consensus of the Commission to suggest that the City Council change the <br />terms of office to start in September and end in August. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Pat Klaers requested a joint meeting with the City Council on March 8, <br />1993, at 8 p.m. It was the consensus of the group to hold their normal <br />meeting on March 3, 1993, and meet with the City Council on March 8, <br />1993 following the EDA meeting. <br /> <br />Pat Klaers provided information on the EDA site in downtown. After a <br />discussion, COMMISSIONER CLETE LIPETSKY MOVED TO RECOMMEND TO THE CITY <br />COUNCIL THAT THE EDA SITE BE DEVELOPED INTO A PARK SITE. COMMISSIONER <br />JOE ST. DENNIS SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 6-0. <br /> <br />11. Other Business <br /> <br />11.1. Heritage Landing <br /> <br />This update was included in the discussion of the Moldenhauer plat. <br /> <br />11. 2. <br /> <br />Flat Land <br /> <br />Chair Dave Anderson questioned staff regarding contact with Holzem's on <br />the purchase of their property on County Road 12 and Fillmore Street. <br />Phil Hals stated that he has had no response from Holzem's in regards <br />to the letter he sent in October and that he has a another letter <br />drafted to contact the Holzem's. regarding this issue. Phil will keep <br />the Commission advised of any progress. <br /> <br />. <br />
