Elk River Public Library Board
April 26th, 2022
5.1 New Business
Page 2
a. Introduction of new Library Services Coordinator Lori Lundstrom
■ Lori Lundstrom introduced herself.
b. Review standing agenda item list for the year
■ The board agreed to bump the indoor walk through of the library to
July and do the outdoor grounds walk through at that time as well.
Commissioner Keifenheim suggested that with new board members
and a new librarian, it would be better to wait until the July meeting
to do when they will be able to give informed input. The board also
agreed to leave the standing agenda items for the July meeting on the
agenda for 2022.
■ Commissioner Voss did not get the packet through her e-mail, so she
requested that Recording Secretary Larson resend it to her along with
the current list of prioritized Capital Improvement Program items.
Secretary Larson passed around the current CIP priority list for
everyone to review.
■ Mr. McCormick suggested that the board give their annual report
with the library in October along with new librarian Ms. Lundstrom.
This gives time to prepare. The board will plan to review their goals
in at the July board meeting. Mr. Dalton will let the City Council
know that Ms. Lundstrom will be attending one of the next Council
meetings to introduce herself and that the board will be working on
their goals.
5.2 Old Business
a. Updates on summer outreach opportunities for the board to
participate in
■ Chair Boelter explained to the new librarian that the board's focus
used to be more on the building and grounds. The board then took
the past couple of years to think about future goals. The board would
like to focus on connecting, supporting, and promoting the Elk River
library to the community. Chair Keifenheim reiterated this point of
connecting the library and the city patrons. The board talked about
some of the events such as Elk Riverfest and the farmers market that
they could attend with the library.
The board asked Ms. Larson to send the Ms. Lundstrom a list of city
events that the librarian could attend. They also requested that Ms.
Lundstrom then send Ms. Larson what the library is planning so the
board members can contact her to let her know if they would like to
attend as well. The board members are willing to attend and support
the library at as many events as they can. Chair Boelter stated that
she would like herself or another board member to be present at the
summer reading kickoff event.
1N'EAE 1 11
MATURE
