I wanted to offer my support of ERX Motorpark in Elk River as it's been a very significant part of my life the last 6 or so years. I grew up in Vermont and had never traveled to any of the Midwest prior to attending college in Duluth, I knew very little about the state, however as a snowmobile racer, I knew about Elk River because of ERX. Many would make the argument that the sport of snocross would not be where it is today without ERX and all their support. Bringing more families out, introducing them to snowmobiles and snowmobile racing, this has had a major impact not only on snocross, but the snowmobile industry as a whole. More riders means more sleds, more sleds means more shifts at the OEM's, more shifts means more jobs, etc. To this day I still participate in events at ERX almost on a monthly basis and I know there are many more like me, people who will travel from all over the world for events at this world class facility. If nothing else, I'd ask you to try and calculate the economic impact to the city of Elk River that ERX has had since it's creation. As powersports enthusiasts, people will report us for riding on a dirt road, a sand pit, or even an official facility like ERX, it's nothing new to us. However, I urge you, the need for something like ERX is still there, and it's rare that you get families like the Carlson's and the Plaisted's with such passion that will put the amount of effort they do into a widely underserved community like ours.
