Chzldren's"
lVIINNES0 I
May 13, 2022
Cal Portner
Elk River City Administrator
Mr. Portner:
It has come to our attention that the conditional use permit for ERX Motor Park is up for approval fand
there could possibly be some objections to the approval of this permit. Please allow me to convey our
support for this permit being granted for ERX based on the tremendous positive impact they have on
the community.
Children's Minnesota has been fortunate to have been the beneficiary of Day of the Dozers for the last
10 years. This event raises thousands of dollars each year to support the patients and families that we
serve- patients from all counties in Minnesota and 65% of the counties in the surrounding 5 states. It is
our privilege to work alongside the members of the Minnesota Utility Contractors Association, including
ERX, to make this event possible.
ERX has donated the space for this event since its inception. They do not charge for the space, they
provide staff, supplies and countless hours to make this happen.
While the financial benefit to Children's from Day of the Dozers is obvious, the benefit to the community
is far more wide reaching. This event educates the public on the construction industry, and how
important it is to our daily lives. Day of the Dozers educates all attendees on the importance of safety in
the industry and the wide range of career opportunities available for youth who may be more suited for
a career in the trade industry. The event draws people from all over the state, we've even had guests
from Iowa and Wisconsin. The sense of community at this event is unmatched and is only made
possible by ERX.
ERX has also hosted former Children's patients at some of their other events, donated directly to our
Child Life program, and even brought in some of their "celebrity" racers to interact with patients and
patient families. Their commitment to giving back to the community they serve is amazing.
Please let me know if you should have any questions regarding the information I have provided. And
please, consider approving their conditional use permit so they can continue to be a vital part of our
community.
Best,
Sara Fabian
Major Gift Officer
Children's Minnesota Foundation
Children's Minnesota Foundation I Mail Stop CBC-3-FOUN 15901 Lincoln Drive I Edina, MN 55346 1952-992-5500
