Elk River Public Library Board Page 2 <br />January 25th, 2022 <br />a. Election of board positions <br />Moved by Commissioner Keifenheim and seconded by Commissioner Blaske to <br />nominate Carole Boelter to the position of Chair. Motion carried 4-0. <br />Moved by Chair Boelter and seconded by Commissioner Keifenheim to nominate <br />Commissioner Isaac Blaske to the position of Vice -Chair. Motion carried 4-0. <br />b. Welcome new board member Kelly Voss <br />• Commissioner Voss shared a little bit about herself, and the board <br />members introduced themselves. <br />c. Director Michael Hecker, Parks and Recreation <br />• Due to a previous board member's request, Mr. Hecker explained <br />how the procedure works if a board member requests to join the <br />meeting via zoom. There is a 72 -hour notification to the public <br />required, the meeting would have to be moved to City Hall, there <br />would have to be a link for the public to view the meeting, and the <br />board member joining via zoom would have to post a notice of <br />attending a public meeting from their residence. <br />d. Review by-laws <br />' Chair Boelter explained to Commissioner Voss that the library board <br />had changed the bylaws in recent years to redirect their change of <br />focus from building and grounds maintenance to supporting the <br />library with outreach efforts in the community. <br />5.2 Old Business <br />a. Update on library grounds maintenance contracts from <br />Councilmember Christianson <br />The current contract for the library grounds maintenance is with <br />Speed cutters and it expires in June of this year. <br />b. Library promotion ideas tabled at July meeting -any new thoughts? <br />• Commissioner Keifenheim explained that the idea to help with <br />marketing the library activities originated from the conversations <br />around the bookmark that was created for the City Council with the <br />library board mission statement on it. Ms. Schake mentioned that it <br />could be a challenge to pursue marketing with the city when they are <br />currently short staffed in the marketing/communications department. <br />She also asked the current board if they feel that they need some <br />specific advertising for the Elk River location. She explained that the <br />library has non location specific marketing materials available. If the <br />board did decide that they wanted to promote, then the city would <br />1® 1 E B E 1 I i <br />NATURE <br />
