He <br />proceeded to explain the costs listed in the handout and stated that the <br />$32.000 overrun is not entirely from change orders. He indicated that <br />change orders will probably amount to less than 10% of the total project <br />cost. <br /> <br />Mayor Tra11e commented on the fact that the City is paying the Architect <br />to oversee the project and that there have been many errors on the <br />Architect's part which are costing the City money. He stated he would <br />like the City Administrator to negotiate some of the cost overrun with <br />the Architect. <br /> <br />Russ Anderson presented the Council with Change Order 12. which was for <br />the purpose of adding to the parking area west of the new driveway. <br /> <br />COUNCILMBMBER SCHULDT MOVED TO APPROVE CHANGE ORDER 12 IN THE AMOUNl' OF <br />$3.267. COUNCILMBMBER KROPUENSKE SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION <br />CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />6. <br /> <br />Joint Meeting with the Planning Commission <br /> <br />The Planning Commission and the City Council discussed the following <br />topics: <br /> <br />6.1. Apartment Density <br /> <br />The Building and Zoning Administrator stated that at the last joint <br />Planning Commission/City Council meeting. one of the topics <br />discussed was the amount of land zoned for potential multi-family <br />use. It was felt that there was possibly too much land zoned in <br />the City of Elk River for multi-family use and it was the consensus <br />of the Planning Commission and City Council that this be studied. <br />The Building and Zoning Administrator indicated that the Planning <br />Consultant recently hired by the City would be studying this topic. <br /> <br />Counci1member Schuldt mentioned that another problem which the City <br />is currently experiencing is the small number of north/south Main <br />Street corridors in this City. Steve Rohlf indicated that this was <br />being addressed to the Growth Management Plan. <br /> <br />Counci1member Holmgren stated that he would like to see the <br />Planning Commission study the need for Senior Citizen apartments in <br />Elk River. <br /> <br />Discussion was held on the location for Senior Citizen apartments. <br />
