He proceeded to explain the costs listed in the handout and stated that the $32.000 overrun is not entirely from change orders. He indicated that change orders will probably amount to less than 10% of the total project cost. Mayor Tra11e commented on the fact that the City is paying the Architect to oversee the project and that there have been many errors on the Architect's part which are costing the City money. He stated he would like the City Administrator to negotiate some of the cost overrun with the Architect. Russ Anderson presented the Council with Change Order 12. which was for the purpose of adding to the parking area west of the new driveway. COUNCILMBMBER SCHULDT MOVED TO APPROVE CHANGE ORDER 12 IN THE AMOUNl' OF $3.267. COUNCILMBMBER KROPUENSKE SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. 6. Joint Meeting with the Planning Commission The Planning Commission and the City Council discussed the following topics: 6.1. Apartment Density The Building and Zoning Administrator stated that at the last joint Planning Commission/City Council meeting. one of the topics discussed was the amount of land zoned for potential multi-family use. It was felt that there was possibly too much land zoned in the City of Elk River for multi-family use and it was the consensus of the Planning Commission and City Council that this be studied. The Building and Zoning Administrator indicated that the Planning Consultant recently hired by the City would be studying this topic. Counci1member Schuldt mentioned that another problem which the City is currently experiencing is the small number of north/south Main Street corridors in this City. Steve Rohlf indicated that this was being addressed to the Growth Management Plan. Counci1member Holmgren stated that he would like to see the Planning Commission study the need for Senior Citizen apartments in Elk River. Discussion was held on the location for Senior Citizen apartments.
