<br />r- <br />f <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />(/ <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />, / <br />',,---.--/ <br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE ELK RIVER PLANNING COMMISSION <br />HELD AT THE COMMUNITY EDUCATION CENTER <br />THURSDAY, JUNE 7, 1990 <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Chairman Kimball, Commissioners Fuchs, Johnson, Eberley, <br />and Nadeau <br /> <br />Members Absent: <br /> <br />Commissioner Schroeder <br /> <br />Staff Present: <br /> <br />Stephen Rohlf, Building and Zoning Administrator; <br />Janelle Szklarski, Zoning Assistant; Bill Weber, <br />Planning Consultant, BRW, Inc. <br /> <br />1. Pursuant to due call and notice thereof; the meeting of the Elk River <br />Planning Commission was called to order at 7:10 p.m. by Chairman <br />Kimball. <br /> <br />Chairman Kimball stated that Bill Weber of BRW, was present to discuss <br />Focus Areas "A", "B", "c" and "D". Chairman Kimball indicated that the <br />Planning Commission would be making a recommendation to the City <br />Council on the four area studies. <br /> <br />Chairman Kimball opened the public hearing. <br /> <br />focus Area~'A" <br />Bill Weber stated that they were asked by the City Council to take a <br />look at the four locations and how they should be developed. He <br />indicated that they would be discussing the four areas in detail in <br />hopes that the Planning Commission would make a recommendation to the <br />Ci ty Council. <br /> <br />At this time Mr. Weber explained Focus Study Area "A" which is located <br />in the southwestern portion of the City of Elk River. Mr. Weber <br />explained four al ternati ve layouts of the land use patterns for "Focus <br />Area A". Mr. Weber suggested that the Planning Commission adopt <br />alternative A4 and make it part of the comprehensive plan. He also <br />recommended that the City proceed with the detailed feasibility study <br />of extending the sewer and water into Area A. <br /> <br />Irv Moldenhauer 12860 Orono Road questioned if sewer and water came to <br />area A, would the current homeowners with private septic systems have <br />to hookup to it. Steve Rohlf, Building and Zoning Administrator <br />indicated that the current City Council policy is that housing with <br />septic and well would not have to hook up. <br /> <br />Cindy Phillips - 13640 Riverview Drive was concerned with the size of <br />the lots for single family and would like to see better homes in the <br />area. <br /> <br />Al Sanudo - 13416 Riverview Drive indicated that starter homes would <br />have a negative effect on his property and would like to see larger <br />lots. <br />
