THE MOTION CARRIED 6-0.

18. Consider Variance ReQuest (HeiJ1:ht of BuildinJ1:) by Church of St.
Andrew/P.H.

Janelle Szklarski, Zoning Assistant, stated that the applicant is
requesting a variance for the height of a skylight on the new church
which is to be located at the corner of Irving Avenue and 4th Street.
Ms. Szklarski indicated that the Planning Commission had two options to
consider; either approve the variance if they felt the applicant met
the request or if the Planning Commission determined that the glass
skylight is an ornamental tower, then no variance would be needed for
the height restriction.

Chairperson Johnson opened the public hearing. There being no one for
or against the matter, Chairperson Johnson closed the public hearing.

Steve Shirts and Larry Toth representing St. Andrew's Church felt
because the skylight would have a cross on the top, it fits the
defini tion of an ornamental tower and, therefore would not require a
variance. The Planning Commission was in agreement.
