The Ringelman Smoke Chart, publisl~d by tl~ United States Bureau of <br />Mines, shall De used for measuring smoke at tlie point of emission. Smoke not darker <br />or more' opaque than No.4 on said chart may hE. emitted, excf'!'t that smoke darker <br />or more opaque than No.2 on said chart may not be emitter.! for periods longer than <br />four (4) minutes in Bny thirty (30) mInutes. These provisions, applicable to <br />visible gray smoke, shall also apply to visible smoke of a different color but <br />an equivalent apparent opaci ty. <br /> <br />6. Dust. SoHd or liquid particles shall not be emJ tted at any point in , <br />concentrations exceeding 0.3 grains per cubil: foot of the conveying gas or air. <br />For measuring the :mount of particles In gases resulting from combustion, standard <br />c'orrections shall be applied to a stack temperature of five hundred degrees <br />Fahrenheit (5000F) and fifty percent (50%) excess air. <br /> <br />7. Fumes or Gases. Fumes or gases shall nol be emitted at any point in <br />concentrations or amounts that are noxious, lexie, or corrosive. The values given <br />in Table 1 (IlldustriCll Hygiene Standards -- t-laximum Allowable Concentration for <br />eight (8}-hour day, five (5) days per week), Table III (Odor Thresholds), Table <br />~V (Exposure to Sub~tances Causing Pain in tl~ Eyes), and Table I (Exposure to <br />Substances Causing Injury to Vegetation) in the latest revision of Chapter 5, <br />"Physlologica:i. Effects," that contains such lables, in the "Air Pollution Abatement <br />Manual," by the Manufacturing Chemists' Assod ation, Inc., Washington, D.C., are <br />rereby established as guides for the elimination of fumes or gases which may be <br />required before the issuance of a building pc:rmlt. <br /> <br />8. Fire Hazards. Any ,activity involving thc: use or storage of flammable or <br />explosive materials shall be protected by ade:qu8 te fire-fighting and fire prevention <br />equ,ipment and by such safety devices as are normally used in the handling of such <br />materials. Such hazards shall he kept removt;d from adjacent activities to a <br />distance which is compatible with the potential danger involved. <br /> <br />9. Wastes. 1.11 soliel waste material. dehris or refuse shall be kept within a <br />completely en~losed building or properly contained in a closed container designed <br />for such purposes. All liquid wastes contai~ing any organic or toxic matter shall <br />be Isol~ted, treated, and disposed of in a m~nner permitted by applicable law and <br />regulation. The health officer shall assist in determining the proper method of <br />waste treatment and dl sposa1. <br /> <br />10. Air Pollution. Every activity shall conform to state regulations relating <br />to air quali ty standards and air po1lut ion control. <br /> <br />11. Erosion. No activity shall be carried on in such a way that water, soil or <br />any obJectional,le substance is carried onto I1ny adjacent property. <br /> <br />12. Radioacti'1ity or Electrical Disturhance.
