�r <br /> rr II <br /> P11 <br /> Electrical System <br /> ERMU operates the electrical system in Elk River.Power is <br /> purchased from the Minnesota Municipal Power Agency <br /> and distributed by ERMU through a distribution system of <br /> lines and substations that are constructed and operated <br /> by ERMU.Electricity is generated primarily through four <br /> generation units,with the landfill gas generation facility at <br /> the landfill contributing in addition to the four units.After <br /> the completion of territory transfers in 2019,ERMU now <br /> provides electric service to the entire footprint of Elk River. <br /> In addition to Elk River,ERMU now also serves portions <br /> of Otsego,Dayton,and Big Lake Township.The expansion <br /> of territory covered means that there are now 611 miles <br /> of electric lines ERMU's system,with 70%of those lines <br /> underground. <br /> Develop Electrical Lines and/ <br /> or Substations to Meet Service <br /> Needs of New Development <br /> ERMU's electric power service has received recognition <br /> for consistency as a reliable power provider-national <br /> recognition through the"Reliable Public Power Provider" <br /> (RP3®)award program.As development occurs within Elk <br /> River,additional lines and/or substations will be neces- <br /> sary to maintain the high levels of service that ERMU has <br /> achieved. - --� — — <br /> 102 Infrastructure Elk River Comprehensive Plan <br /> DRAFT FOR REVIEW ONLY <br />
